If you have previously set up the Homebrew Channel and DVDx for the old WODEMenu app, you do NOT need to repeat this process. Simply add the WODEFlow app to your SD card's apps folder as shown below in the "To begin" section.

DOWNLOAD SOFTWARE HERE
http://code.google.com/p/wodebrew/downloads/list

ALTHOUGH THIS PROCESS IS GENERALLY SAFE, THERE IS ALWAYS SOME RISK OF DAMAGE TO YOUR WII! IF YOU'RE NOT WILLING TO TAKE THE RISK, DO NOT FOLLOW THIS TUTORIAL. STICK WITH THE GAMECUBE MENU! FOR THOSE WILLING TO TAKE THE (relatively low) RISK, READ ON:

The first thing you need to do is set up your SD Card to work. I'm not allowed to mirror some of the files required by this tutorial, so I will instead link to them. You need:

To Begin
  1. The first step is to update your WODE to version 1.28 (or newer). If you don't know how to do that, stop reading this guide right now and learn how to before you continue.
  2. Now we have to set up your SD Card. I recommend that you use an EMPTY SD card, just in case. We'll start by extracting the archive that you download which contains the HackMii Installer. Inside the archive, you will find a file called "boot.elf." This is the only file that you'll need, so you can safely delete the others. Put this "boot.elf" on the ROOT of your SD Card. (The ROOT means that it isn't in any folder.)
  3. Download the WODEflow dol, create a folder called "WODEflow." On your SD card, create a folder in the ROOT named "apps" and in the "apps" folder, put the "WODEflow" folder.
  4. Extract the BannerBomb archive that you downloaded and move the "private" folder to the ROOT of your SD card.

Please rename the downloaded "wodeflow - v0.1.dol" to "boot.dol".

Your SD card's file structure should look like this:

ROOT

-boot.elf

-private
--wii
---title
----aktn
-----content.bin

-apps
--WODEFlow
---boot.dol
---icon.png Not provided as yet - use the WODEmenu one for now
---meta.xml Not provided as yet - use the WODEmenu one for now

Installing the homebrew code onto your Wii
IF YOU HAVEN'T BEEN READING VERY CLOSELY, YOU SHOULD START TO DO SO NOW. THIS IS THE MOST DANGEROUS PART OF THE TUTORIAL, AND IT MUST BE READ STEP-BY-STEP!
  1. Insert the SD card that you set up above into your Wii (NOT WODE!).
  2. DEPENDING ON YOUR WII MENU VERSION, launch BannerBomb. ON WII MENU 4.2 go to the SD card menu. ON WII MENU 4.1 AND BELOW go to Wii settings, data management, channels, and click on the SD tab. When asked to load boot.dol/elf choose YES.

    Image
  3. You will now see a 'this software is free' notice. Wait a few moments for it to say "Press 1 to continue." Do that.
  4. This is the HackMii Installer. You'll see a list of things that can be installed. Just press continue.

    Image

  5. What you see now is the MAIN MENU. Choose "Install the homebrew channel"

    Image

  6. When the homebrew channel is done installing, choose "Install DVDx."
  7. Once DVDx is done installing, press the "Exit" button. You will be returned to the HomeBrew channel, where you can see the WODEFlow app. Click on it, then press the center button on the window that pops up - "Load" - to start the app.

Cleaning Up
You have successfully set up your Wii to use the WODE Homebrew app! Now it's time to clean up your SD card a bit.
  • Delete boot.elf off the root
  • Delete the "private" folder
  • KEEP THE APPS FOLDER!

Enjoy WODEFlow! Just remember, when you want to use the app, the SD with the "apps" folder that you set up here must be in the Wii's SD slot.

Please note this is Aether's WODEmenu guide that I have edited quickly to provide a working install guide. All credit to Aether for the original. All errors are mine alone. Thanks mate.

Thank you for the quick update to the guide.

People: Get icon.png from the old Wodemenu archive:
http://www.wodejukebox.com/download/wod ... 1_dvdx.zip (take just the icon.png)

Then make a new file called meta.xml and fill it with this updated information:
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>
<app version="1">
   <name>WODEflow</name>
   <coder>r-win</coder>
   <version>0.1</version>
   <release_date>201004210000</release_date>
   <short_description>WODE Menu System</short_description>

Everything in there is correct and could be used as basis for the official meta.xml.

Message for r-win:

I am incredibly thankful that you ported Wiiflow to DVDX+WODE. Ever since I first laid eyes on Wiiflow (way before WODEflow), I was so jealous of USBloader people.

As a sidenote, will you remove USBloader-only features like the "Settings > Install Game" option? That one is only for softmodded USBloading people, for instance. Same with "Error #002 fix" as far as I know (something to do with copy protection when using USB loaders).

It'd be awesome if you cleaned up the Wiiflow UI to remove anything unrelated like that. :D

Also a bug: Seems the WODE hardware returns an improperly terminated string (no null) for the partition names, so you get something like "sda1[ ][ ]%$@%" when changing partitions in the WODEflow settings, that's something for TheArtificer most likely, unless they really are properly terminated and it's a WODEflow bug in the parsing of the returned partition name strings.

Finally, a feature wish for whenever: Implement control over other WODE features like Flat Wode support as a way of immediately entering flat wode and launching whatever disc is inserted, right from WODEflow, perhaps as a "virtual" game entry (floating image of a disc) shown in the same coverflow list as all other games. Selecting that entry would trigger flat wode mode and then proceed with the same loader code that already exists, to launch the game. And perhaps even other, advanced stuff like WODE configuration and disk ripping. I understand this last wish may never happen, but it'd be incredible if it did some day.

Thanks again r-win for making my dream of Wiiflow come true! Oh and I realize that you'll definitely want to keep most of the WODEflow source code identical to Wiiflow so that you can merge the latest releases of Wiiflow easily, but still, please look into cleaning it up for the future if possible without too much hassle.

Quick tip.

Don't cancel cover downloads mid-stream. WodeFlow crashed on me, and required a power down reset to get working again, as just restarting the app from the HBC after rebooting the Wii resulted in a disconcerting error of "WODE not found!", and the WODE was still happily displaying Wii Channel (I'm on 1.28)

No harm, no foul, just a little interesting tidbit.

I am NOT a software person. Give me a soldering iron and I am happy.

Can I open a simple .txt file and cut and paste your information in the white "code" box into the text file? Then name it meta.xml. Is this correct?

Very nice Wiisel, good idea to fill it out with more information about the GC loading problem etc (to anyone wondering, those games can't be loaded in the original Wiiflow either, so it's not the port's fault).

It's actually possible to use whitespace in the "long_description", lots of apps do it and it makes the text a lot easier to read when it's divided into paragraphs.

Also, the "short_description" of "WODE Cover Flow" is a bit weird since it's so much more than cover flow. It's a launcher, it's a menu system, it's a cheat system, it's a region-free loader, etc. I suggest going with "WODE Menu System" or something to that effect.

Anyway, thanks. Updated my original post, check it. ;)

Wiiflow themes are 100% compatible with WODEflow.

To get new themes, go here:
http://wii.spiffy360.com/themes.php?cre ... y=2&sort=1

I've tested all well-designed themes, and can highly recommend the "Carbonik" theme as one of the best looking themes of all. The screenshot does not reflect how it really looks. When in use, it has amazing, transparent graphics and insanely good looking cover browsing, with no pointless or unusable views. It's also the ONLY theme which has REALLY thought about the cover flow "flip" feature (that lets you see the game backside), by specifically zooming in on the text portion so that you can actually READ the text on the back of the cover. No other themes do that. Carbonik is an AMAZING theme.

Here's an outdated but still good YouTube video of it in action:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gibJhvfewyI
(The theme is visible from 0:50 and forward in the video)

There are no completely up-to-date videos on YouTube. The newest version of the theme has a set of 3 incredible views; cover-by-cover, a wall of covers, and as a stack of covers where you read the spines. It's all immensely usable. Other themes usually have too many views, or hard to view modes that were more about eye candy than usability.

Enjoy!

Hello,

Installed WodeFlow and it is working great.

I downloaded one WiiFlow from the Link mentioned in spiffy360 link mentioned. It is a zip file and i get a .ini and a folder after unzipping it.

What do we do next. How do we install this along with WodeFlow?

Thanks,
