Hi
Sorry for asking but I'm reading the forum for days now, and cannot decide for all options to solve at least the 002 error and keep my out of region games working.
I bought the Wode to prevent softmodding, now I got many errors I get the feeling I still have to softmod to get it fixed and still be able to play out of region games.

What do I want:
Do as less or none soft modding as possible
Play games from all regions
Solve at least error #002
I did not want to choose for a hardware solution and end up softmoding anyhow
My simple mind would like to patch the ISO, or have a simple way to load the correct IOS for every game that need it in a way a child can repeat it.
I'm willing to upgrade my Wii menu to the Highest version that still plays out of region games(4.1?), but I not understand which version that is and how to upgrade without Internet or use Original game disc and if it is usefull to solve at least some errors.

A few options I found on the forum:
Update the Wii menu to a 4.2 or 4.3 menu and loose out of region game play or only by softmodding using WodeFlow and HBC also Gecko is mentioned, but not explained
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=3035&start=0

Patch the ISO, but does it work with all the games? and not only "dj hero 2"
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3243&start=0

Load the correct IOS without upgrading, but still softmodding (HBC)
install the HBC and then install the IOS files needed to play without upgrading to 4.2.
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=3178&start=0

And more and more HELP

My settings:
Wii serienumber LEM10165716
Wii menu Ver 4.0E
Wode Boot Ver: 01.01
Wode Ver: 02.5A
FPGA Ver: 02.00
HW Ver: 1
Setting: (WODE)
WII region EUR
Game settings
Region Patch: on
Updates: No
Wode settings
Auto load Off
Display File.ext
Free space on
I attached a Hard disk to the Wode
I'm not connected to the Internet and not intent to.
Next to installing the WODE I also changed the DVD drive to an older version drive

In short you have a few options - all involve soft modding to a certain degree if you wish to keep out of region gaming. Nintendo blocked out of region gaming ion the 4.2 update and nothing can be done to get round this except a small amount of soft modding... Meaning the HBC

1. Install the HBC and find out what IOS files are needed for your specific games and install the relevant IOS files: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=3199 (This link explains how to install IOS's and Channels)
- This allows allows you to stay on 4.0
- Downside, YOU need to find the IOS files required to be installed for your games to work
- Not all out of region games work directly from the disc channel anyway

2. Install the HBC and use WodeFlow AND upgrade to 4.3
- Get a nice user interface
- Gives out of region game support even on 4.2 and above (from within WodeFlow not the Disc Channel)
- Allows you to select any Wii game, no matter region, and start it from within WodeFlow
- Can use Cheats if you wish
- There are some issues start some GC games so start them via LCD or the CFG Menu or the old Wode Menu App
- How to install the HBC: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=1992 (for 4.1 and 4.1 and below. Also has a link to 4.3 - disregard the DvDx section)
- Better guide for HBC install on 4.3: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=4701
- More info on WodeFlow: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=3049&p=28128#p28128
- If you have HBC already installed but below 1.0.7 simply download the HackMii files as per above, place them in the sd:\apps\hackMii folder and start from within the HBC to upgrade - OR turn on wireless internet access on your Wii and let it upgrade by sitting at the HBC screen for about 10secs
3. Update to 4.3 and this will fix error 002 BUT you will lose Out of Region Gaming

If you go option 2 ENSURE that you install the HBC 1.0.7 or above BEFORE you update to 4.3. Also, a special note: HBC 1.0.8 has a bug where if you do not have wifi on the Wii some apps crash out - like WodeFlow: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2875

I would recommend (if you decide option 2) - whether you have wifi or not - to first install HBC 1.0.7. Then upgrade to 4.3 and then if you do have wifi on your Wii start the HBC and when prompted to update it accept and update.

Me personally - I would go with option 2 for the ease of use.

1. Install, via BannerBomb 4.1 and below, HBC 1.0.7
- BannerBomb 4.1 is in teh guide I linked above
- Google for HackMii 0.7b as the links on this site link to HackMii 0.8

2. Once the HBC 1.0.7 is installed update to System Menu 4.3
- This can be done via Wii System Update
- An in region game that has the 4.3 update on it like Metroid/Donkey Kong Country Returns etc
- To install an update via a disc / iso file you must change some WODE settings. Settings - WODE Settings - Game Patching - Region Patch: OFF, Updates: YES and then SAVE. Now select your game and install the update. You may have to run the update twice as it is a two part update (well it was for me when I did it the other day from 3.4). Change WODE Settings back to Updates: OFF and Region Patch: YES

3. Start the HBC and if I have Wifi wait for an update prompt to appear and update the HBC
- If no Wifi then do not bother waiting - just use WodeFlow

Each to their own but to keep it simple this is what I would do and what I actually did on both my Wii's

Once that is completed you can then make it even easier for a child by installing the WodeFlow Channel. This means you do not have to always go via the HBC. This is what I did for my 7yr old. Though she could do it via the HBC via its own channel is nice.

viewtopic.php?f=13&t=3199 - How to Install IOS/Channels
viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2808 - Install WodeFlow as a Channel
viewtopic.php?f=13&t=3179&start=0 - The actual Channels. WodeFlow - WOTS.wad is what I used. It is a Toy Story Theme

There is always a risk but these WADS have been tried and tested. Your choice how you proceed

Thanks Zephyr,

For the good advise. The installation of the HBC went well and I can load the Wodeflow application, only here I get stuck. If I load with the current Wode setting (auto load off) Wode flow will ask me to load an iso. (I see a picture of a DVD with an arrow to a Hard disk, with the text load iso. If I change the settings to LOAD CFG (On the Wode). As stated in your link: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=3049&p=28128#p28128
The wode application show a loading harddisk, but will stop with an error Wode not found...

I have not yet upgraded to 4.3, as I wanted to check if this part worked...

To upgrade to 4.3 can I use an iso file of "Donkey Kong Country Returns"?
I would really like the Wode flow as a channel, but the link you gave end to an removed article: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=280 - Install WodeFlow as a Channel

I the also a way to prevent clicking on the first screen of the Wodeflow (auto load?)

Thanks for all your help.

Chipwapwa

I followed your advise to go for option 2, as I too have kids (4, 7,8) that would like the wodeflow, and as their seem no way to bypass installation of the HBC.

You must have AutoLaod: CFG or AutoLoad: LAST else you will manually have to select a game every time to use WodeFlow. The Wode not found happens in three ways: 1. You try and access wode flow BEFORE your hdd has initialised. 2. You do not have the <no_ios_reload/> tag in your meta.xml. From the link you mentioned above there is an attachment in the thread. Download the attachment in the thread called meta-icon.zip. Use the xml file in that download. 3. You have HBC 1.0.6 or below installed with no DvDx. What version of the HBC do you have installed? Load HBC and then press HOME and it tells you in the top right corner of the screen

My bad - I left an 8 off the end of the link. It should be: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2808 - however you could have used the link above the broken link as that has instructions on how to install as a channel. Now you have the link I used :)

Not sure what you mean here... Do you mean you go HomeBrew Channel - Start - WodeFlow - Load and you want to skip the Load??? Can't be done via the HBC. When you have a channel all you do is click the WodeFlow Channel and then start and you are done... Just have to wait for the HDD to initialise first. Should you start before the HDD is initialised all you do is wait for it to be ready and then press "A" or "B" to bring up the wodeflow settings button - click settings - then press "B" and your games should display - assuming you previously had wodeflow working

Lastly - the Channel install states you need HBC 1.0.8 but I installed the channel and it works just fine via HBC 1.0.7

Thanks again Zephyr,

As I understand now the first 2 links are ways to install WAD's and the third is the WAD for Wodeflow, correct? The second looks much easier than the first. Only the second one tells you to: "Installing Priiloader is a good safety measure" while the first says: Any kind of brick protection like BootMii in boot2 or priiloader. The second one uses BootMii so is that good enough? I'll try this later as I'll go to family for the new year, by the way all the best for you and yours in the new year.

"click the WodeFlow Channel and then start and you are done.."
This start is what I wanted to prevent, as I already pushed the Wode flow button. But it is not important as I realized that they are so many screens in the Wii where you have to say start, In my mind if I click on something it means I want to start. But not for the Wii.

The error Wode not found was caused by the <no_ios_reload/> tag in my meta.xml
I took the meta and icon from the first link "- How to install the HBC: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=1992" The has several meta.xml I took the first one, as it was a quote from below, so I should the correct one...

It is working now, also the upgrade to 4,3E with a Donkey Kong Return ISO.
Most games work now only the France Guitar Hero give the Rectangle on screen telling:
Error press eject and reset.

I also connected the Wifi and downloaded the covers, I did not update to 1.0.8 as I did not intent to leave the wifi on. Is there any reasoon that I should? Thanks Thanks.

Sounds like you pretty much have everything setup except the WodeFlow Channel.

I liked the 2nd on as it seemed easier too... But then again - I never really read the 1st one that well as I had completed it via the 2nd link.

I never installed Priiloader or ANY brick protection. I know I was only installing a trusted WAD file so I trusted there to be a very low chance of an issue. It is a personal choice.

I also could not be bothered reading up on how to use Priiloader or anything like that so I simply did not do it.

Having to click start is a Wii thing... Just the way it is :)

Correct on what you typed about the links and WADS. Use the WodeFlow - WOTS.wad. That is what I used and have had no issues.

There is no need to leave Wifi on your Wii if you do not need it. Obviously this means stay on HBC 1.0.7 :)
