Hi,

I was wondering is it possible to install ios58 on hbc 1.0.7. I am allready on system menu 4.3 and from what i gather i would need the ios58 installer which only works for the 1.0.8 homebrew channel? The reason i ask is because i do not want to upgrade my hbc to 1.0.8 as it is network dependant for wodeflow to run and i have a unstable network at my house. Can someone please point me in the right direction, i have tried to search but it is all so confusing.

Thanks matt

Only HBC 1.0.8 installs on IOS58. It is impossible for you to install HBC 1.0.7 on IOS58.

You only need HBC on IOS58 IF you are soft modded and using Homebrew loaders. It is not needed for WODE at all.

The only other reason I can think of using IOS58 is for CleanRip as it rips games in 13min - 14min to NTFS partitions. But you MUST be on HBC 1.0.8 installed on IOS58 for that to work fast. You can still do it via HBC 1.0.7 but it is slower and you might as well use WODE.

EDIT: IOS58 also needed for the channels WiiJohn Makes BUT HBC does not need to be installed on IOS58 just IOS58 is needed

Hi,

Fair enough, The next question i have is if i updated to hbc 1.0.8 and then installed ios58 along with the wodeflow channel ( the one that installs from the hbc as a app not a wad) would wodeflow still be network dependant or would i be able to use without network access? As you can tell i want to install the wodeflow channel as a install not a wad as i here this is not as risky to do. The installer i am talking about is from wiijohn i think dont quote me and as others i tried the installer today but it gave me a error as i do not have iso58. Any info greatly appreciated. here is the link for the channel i am talking about viewtopic.php?f=13&t=3740. Am i delusional to think that this is safer to do or does this come under full soft modding for me to achieve this?

cheers matt

No matter whether you install the Channel or a Forwarder they carry the same risk of a brick. However, risk is minimised if they known and trusted WAD files you are installed.

The link you gave with the Wode Flow Forwader is still a WAD file installation BUT it looks for the boot.dol in a specific location as specified in the link given rather than have the boot.dol built in.

I have the Wode Flow forwarder you linked installed on my kids Wii. It has HBC 1.0.7 installed but also has IOS58 installed. (If you are on 4.3 then you have IOS58 already installed) and I have NO wifi setup and the forwarder works perfectly fine.

1. Get the forwarder from the link you supplied
2. Install IOS58 if you do not have it: http://www.wiibrew.org/wiki/IOS58_Installer
3. Follow these instructions: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2808
- All that is needed for the channel / forwarder to install is the HBC 1.0.7 or above AND for it to work it needs IOS58
4. If using the forwarder simply leave your wodeflow setup in SD:\apps\wodeflow\boot.dol, meta.xml. icon.png not needed but leave it there all the same.

No - this is far from full soft modding. BUT you can brick your Wii - but that can happen installing ANYTHING, even official Nintendo stuff.

I have NO brick protection and I have installed and uninstalled WiiJohns Channels / Forwarders several times with no issues. Choice is yours but his Channels / Forwarders are tried and proven to work and are safe as you can get

WodeFlow being network dependant is only because of a BUG in HBC 1.0.8. If you do not use HBC 1.0.8 then it matters not if you have wifi active or not. You can still have a Channel / Forwarder installed via HBC 1.0.7 as explained above.

Hi Zehyr,

Just a couple things i am wanting to check.
My current hbc is 1.0.7 on ios61 as done by the shop i took it to. They downgraded my hbc to 1.0.7 as they said 4.3 would remove the hbc once updated then they updated. Bear with im still learning. Here are some questions.

So is this why hbc is not on ios58?
If 4.3 has the io58 if i uninstalled the hbc then just reinstalled would it go to ios58?
If that would not work here are a couple more questions(sorry to be a pain)

The link for ios58 installer in your step 2. says i must have hbc 1.0.8 and says also i says i would need to uninstall the hbc channel and reinstall it but i can only find i think the hackmii installer 0.8, will this reinstall 1.0.7.
If not would i be looking for hackmii 0.7

The link for your step 3. again says i need hbc 1.0.8, these instuctions seem pretty straight forward. Do i need a WAD installer as i does not mention this or just files as directed to download and run?

I am not sure on this one but after writing these questions i am guessing that those steps (2. & 3.) that say you need hbc 1.0.8 wont matter as they only need ios58 and i will be doing this in the first step as per advise given?

The only reason for all of this is because my partner is breaing my chops t make it easier for here to play all the games  as if it is not easy enough :) all replies again muchly appeciated

Cheers matt and thanks again

reinstalling HBC with IOS58 on your system will allow it to grab that IOS.

The big thing about IOS58 is its USB 2.0 module

Let's put it this way

1. You are on 4.3 so IOS58 is installed on your Wii. Forget about trying to install it as it is there

2. Updating to 4.3 ONLY removes HBC 1.0.6 and below

3. The forwarders are still WAD files as that is how they get installed

4. Use the link I have you on how to install channels / forwarders but IGNORE that it states you need HBC 1.0.8 as it works perfectly fine with HBC 1.0.7

5. If you ever do remove the HBC NEVER exit the hackMii installer before installing it again else you need specific games to start the installer again. Saying that - if you used the hackmii installe 0.8 it will auto install HBC 1.0.8 onto IOS58 IF it is present on you Wii - which in you case it is. HOWEVER, you do not need HBC 1.0.8 for any of this to work.

EDIT: as per Wiisel ios58 = USB 2.0 support but that is for homebrew only. It does not do anything for WODE directly as such.

This means:

1. Download the forwarder file from the link YOU referenced. This will be a WAD file
2. Download the files as per the link I gave you on how to install WAD files (channels / forwarders) - this link has all the files you need to do what is required
3. Place the WAD file you downloaded in step 1 into the WAD folder from step 2
4. Place SD card into Wii
5. Start the HBC
6. Press HOME on the Wiimote
7. Start Bootmii
8. Screen goes black for a short period and then follow the onscreen instructions / answer the questions

Once you finally exit to the Wii system menu you will see a WODE flow forwarder channel. Start it to use wodeflow (ensure wodeflow exists on the SD card in SD:\apps\wodeflow\boot.dol, meta.XML and icon.png (just like you would née from the HBC.

Above is exactly what I did on my 4.3E Wii with HBC 1.0.7 installed.

Correct and so does racket sports and raquet sports. Anything that uses the camera.

I was referring to usb2.0 support as with WODE it does not take advantage due to the HDD plugging into WODE not the USB port of the Wii.

IOS58 is also needed for channels and forwarders.

I guess my point was having the HBC on IOS58 has no direct advantages for WODE use only so using HBC 1.0.7 does not disadvantage the average WODE user but still Hav IOS58 installed to use other functions such as forwarders and channels
