Hello everyone. First of all, thank you to the community! Numerous posts on these forums have helped me successfully install my Wode, The Homebrew Channel, and Wodeflow. :D

I have a new Red Wii on Firmware 4.3U
My Wode is on the latest Firmware 2.5B

I installed The Homebrew Channel and Wodeflow thanks to this Tutorial http://www.wodejukebox.org/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2765

Everything is working great. My Wii has Wi-Fi setup and running.

Today I received a Wii Message Board Mail from Nintendo with:
Quote:
Wii Menu version 4.3 has been improved. This update provides a behind-the-scenes fixes that will not affect features but will improve the overall system performance.
To update your Wii Menu to the latest version, please select the Update button at the bottom of the screen or select the System Update option in Wii System Settings.

Because unauthorized modifications to save data or program files may impair game play or the Wii console, updating to Wii Menu version 4.3 will also check for and automatically remove such save data or program files.

** Please note:
If you've updated your Wii Menu after 9/7/10, you may not need to update again.

Thank you for updating your Wii console!

Nintendo

I thought it was a little odd as I am already on 4.3, but I guess it is a slight update for it.

Also, when I go to the Wii Shop Channel it says this:
Quote:
There is an update to the Wii Shop Channel!

To receive this update, go to Wii Settings and select Wii System Update. When you return to the Wii Shop Channel, you will receive the update. Come back after you've updated!

So my questions simply are - Is it safe to run a Wii System Update? Will it affect my installation of The Homebrew Channel and Wodeflow? If so, what will I have to do to fix it.

Thanks for your time!

Yep - it is safe to update.

I am unsure why Nintendo did not release the Red Wii with the latest 4.3 updates already on it... I would have expected them to have the complete latest... I guess that is Nintendo for you...

Basically 4.3 was released and then a little while later Nintendo released another update but kept it as 4.3.

www.wiibrew.org is a good place to look for if there is a Wii update that effects the current HBC.

On my PAL Wii's I installed 4.3 when it came out and then I installed the 2nd 4.3 after it was released with no issues. Also, someone form the US recently asked the same question and successfully updated without issue.

Well. I just did it.
Unfortunately now after mounting iso from HDD using my Wode, Wii doesn't see it.
It says that it doesn't recognize the DVD.
Can I do something about it?
Thanks.

Are you trying to boot an out-of-region copy on your Wii similis (e.g. PAL game on NTSC-U Wii or vice versa)? Wii system menu 4.2 and above prevent you from doing that. You'll have to install the homebrew channel and use a loader application (e.g. viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2765) to restore out-of-region compatibility. Or stick to games from your Wii's region.

Two iso tried after update were European.
Thanks a lot.
