Hi,
Until now I used Ntfs drive with ripping to Iso files.

I have never used the wbfs image because I thaught that it was possible only on WBFS drive.
But it seams, after reading some post on this forum, that it is possible to use WBFS ripped game on NTFS or FAT 32 drive.

Is it right? and does it work exactly as well as ISO on NTFS?

If Yes, What is the best solution to use WBFS images on none WBFS drive?

WBFS images on NTFS drive or WBFS images on FAT32 Drive.

Like the WBFS image are mostly smaller than 4Go I think it is not a problem to use FAT32 drive?

Thank you

.wbfs files vary in size depending on how much actual data is on the disc on fat32 its split into two files when over 4GB.

WiiBackup manager is a popular choice of tool on Windows systems.

Ok Wiisel and thank you.

But the main question was:
What is the best partition format between NTFS and FAT 32 to use wbfs backup on a none WBFS partition?????

If it work fine, WBFS on Other than WBFS partition?

My question is regarding to reliability, the choice with less problem????

thank's

Fat32:
Faster initialization compatible with Wii homebrew files upto 4GB.

NTFS:
Slower initialization not compatible with all Wii homebrew files over 4GB supported.

The choice is yours both have pro's and cons I myself prefer Fat32 as I use my drive more for Wii homebrew than I do WODE stuff and it was already full of games before I got a WODE it really boils down to user preference and whatever other uses for the drive you have.

Hi

I'm running wode with an ntfs drive, but as ripping speed seems to be much higher with fat32, I'm considering going with that instead.

What's the best way to handle my existing 4+ gig iso's?

Can I split them somehow to make them "fit" on fat32 ?

HJSplit will do it... well nearly - it outputs files called original_filename.ext.001, .002 etc - you'd need to rename them as .iso, .is1, etc

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/deskt ... jsplit.cfm

Or use WiiBackupManager to rip the ISO down to WBFS... that's my preference because I keep my ISOs backed up elsewhere, away from the destructive powers of the family

As per hunnymonster. HJSplit and WBFS manager... Or you could use a MS-DOS Command Line.

So, am I right in assuming that iso's can be divided just about any way I please, i.e just split them as a couple of 1 or 2 gig files for example?

That's simple and brilliant!

Why is ntfs ripping so god awful slow anyway?

The real answer is much more complex, but the simple explanation is that Microsoft doesn't play well with others. They haven't released the documentation necessary to allow third parties to access NTFS without making guesses or assumptions. So, you either write to it quickly and hope you got your program correct for all cases and didn't corrupt any files, or you take more time and do some less optimized stuff that should be safer. Either way you are taking a small chance that you might not be writing to the drive in a way that MS will support. Reading is less risky, you can take more chances to help speed.

@jonathanm - what you have said is what I have read and understood in the past. What I do not understand is how CleanRip can rip to a NTFS formatted drive Full ISO in 13min to 14min...

Granted IOS58 via USB two helps as CleanRip on a different HBC IOS is slow
