I have the new black Wii NTSC ver 4.3u. I attempted to play a PAL version game but it did not load. I read that you must use Wii Firmware 4.2 or earlier. Is there a way to re-load my Wii firmware to 4.2 or earlier? Thanks for any help on this matter. :?:

Actually you need 4.1 or earlier if you want to play out of region games from the Wii Disc Channel. To downgrade you need to soft mod your Wii with something like ModMii or the like.

Such mods are not supported on this forum due to this being a WODE forum and you can brick your Wii downgrading. You will need to go to http://www.gbaTemp.net and check our their Wii section.

OR you can go to our homebrew forum section and learn how to install the HBC 1.0.7 or HBC 1.0.8 onto your Wii and then just use WodeFlow.

Just a tip - to downgrade you need the homebrew channel installed.... So you might as well just install the HBC and then use the WodeFlow app and not risk bricking your Wii via a downgrade.

Zephyr,
Thanks for your helpfull information. I am also thinking downgrading my Wii is not the best way to go. Seems like a lot involved to go the other route also, but might be something I am up for. What is a time estimate to get it all up and running, based on a fairly proficient newby to this area. I just did the Wode Install, and the securing the wode base to my Wii "modification", then found out I cant play the PAL files. :(

Thanks again! Any information is valuable!

In reality it should take about 5min to get HBC installed and WodeFlow working.

Questions for you:

1. Do you have a copy of LEGO Indiana Jones, LEGO Batman, LEGO Starwars, Super Smash Brothers Brawl

2. Do you have an active Wifi connection on your Wii?

It really is easy to complete. Answer those questions and we can help some more.

I do have an active Wii WiFi Connection.

I do not have the mentioned titles, but I am sure I can borrow a copy of the Lego Star Wars from my Nephew. (I take it I need the Original Disc Correct?)

It just needs to be able to be run on your Wii. Backup via Disc (if your Wii can play backup discs), via HDD or via Original.

It must be LEGO Star Wars - The Complete Saga if you are using Star Wars

I'd like to play Worms Battle Island PAL on a NTSC Wii. There are some Wii software programs that convert Wii PAL games to NTSC. Guess I could try that & see what happens.

That will ONLY work if you have a fully soft modded Wii. When fully soft modding your Wii you install the HBC so why not just install the HBC and use WodeFlow...?

Much easier as soft modding comes with extra risks of bricking... Though now days it seems a lot safer and easier to soft mod than in the past but still not something to be done unless you understand what's involved etc

Handyguy, Zephyr really knows what he is talking about. I love mine, although I have not gotten to use it since I have got the HBC up and running. Been to busy fighting the good fight and being away from home! I love it, although last time I checked, after playing one title, and going to select another, I would have to re-boot the unit as the HBC title list (Forget the terminology for it) had some form of error. This will probably all be fixed if I ever get a chance to update my HBC Software version.

Can anyone send me some extra "Time"!!!! There is never enough in my day! :)

I am not sure what error it is that you get but I can successfully turn on the Wii (AutoLoad: CFG is set) and then start the HBC / WodeFlow Forwarder, Start WodeFlow and select a game.

I then finish the game and the Wii resets back to teh Wii Main Menu and I can start the HBC / WodeFlow Forwarder again and start another game. No error at all.

I am on 4.3 and WODE Firmware 2.8 - but I have had the same setup through the WODE firmware releases and not had an issue since 2.1 onwards. (1.28 would eject a GC Game when you start the HBC but that was fixed in 2.1 onwards)
